Rules: Feta Belongs to Greeks
Germany, Denmark lose suit over rights to crumbly cheese's name

NEW YORK
(WCBS) A long
legal
dispute over the rights to the name feta cheese has been resolved, with
Greece the winner against Germany and Denmark, WCBS 880’s
John Metaxas
reports.
For the Greeks, feta cheese is as Greek as -- well-- bouzouki music.
When the Germans and the Danes tried to take the name, the Greeks took
them to court..
The case lasted 13 years, but now the highest European court says feta
belongs to the Greeks.
“Let the Danes have their havarti,” says a
Greek-American
named Andreas from the Symposium restaurant in Morningside
Heights.
And as it says it right there in a recent New York times crossword
